Magdalena Grand Beach Resort, Tobago:

efm was tasked by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to renovate, refurbish and re-open a 200 room beachfront resort that was originally operated as a Hilton Resort but had been closed for several years. The job was completed in record time and within budget and efm was asked to stay on as manager of the resort and adjoining PGA designed 18-hole Golf course. efm recommended the architect and interior designer and oversaw the specification and purchase of all furniture, fixtures and operating equipment, recruited the management team, trained the employees, and marketed the new resort worldwide. The Magdalena Grand has enjoyed over 60% occupancy and was awarded the coveted Trip Advisor “Certificate of Excellence” in its first year of operation.

Club Ambiance Resort, Runaway Bay, Jamaica:

efm was engaged by the Waymaker Group to assist the owner in the transition of a 90 room all-inclusive resort from a 12 year management agreement arrangement to an independently owner-operated facility with a local management team. efm successfully directed the transition and was retained to provide management oversight for the ongoing operation. Additionally, efm was contracted to source a buyer and execute an exit strategy for the owner.

Grand Beach Resort and Pineapple Village, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.:

John Murphy spent five years as General Manager and was directly responsible for the operating results of the 300 room, AAA Four Diamond resort, while also serving as a Director of the Pineapple Village Condominium Board and managing The Home Owners Association. After severe damage during Hurricane Marilyn, John managed and coordinated insurance claims and a $25 million renovation to successfully re-open the resort one year later when it became the market leader with positive business levels. Annual surveys from 328 employees rated management leadership and performance at 89% (one of the highest in the region). The resort received numerous awards and accolades including Golden Key, Caribbean Hotel Association Environmental, Pinnacle, and Spirit of Excellence. The Grand Beach Resort was recognized as one of the best hotels in St. Thomas.
